OCVS Teacher Requirements/Expectations

  • Highly qualified in subject area and valid Florida teaching certificate.

  • Instructors will establish weekly office hours during which students and parents may contact them by phone and email.

  • Minimum of 7.5 hours per week time commitment within the hours of 8:00am- 8:00pm (at least one night a week, 6-8pm).

  • Available and willing to meet face-to-face with students and parents/guardians as needed.

  • Operational knowledge of the Internet and web-based technologies.

  • Strong communication skills – written, oral, telephone, e-mail.

  • Computer with high speed Internet connection.

  • Publishable telephone line with message capability.

  • Completion of individual on-line and face-to-face training.

  • Attend mandatory faculty meetings during and/or after school hours throughout the year.

  • Participate in professional development sessions offered throughout the year

  • Attend mandatory FLVS and/or Canvas trainings

  • Flexible Schedule

  • Ability to conduct online sessions/Live Lessons

  • Respond as soon as possible, but no later than 24 hours to parent, student, teacher and administration inquiries via phone and/or email during regular work weeks

  • Proactively tracks student academic progress and attendance

  • Conduct face-to-face meetings as needed with parents/guardians and students to assess student progress, learning style, and any other academic, social, or developmental issues

  • Participate and actively attend Open House and Orientation events for new families

  • Discuss student academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents

  • Participate in professional developments

  • Attend all in-person and/or online meetings, as scheduled
